About Hua YuanHua Yuan Science and Technology Association (HuaYuan) is a leading Silicon Valley based non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening business ties between the U.S. and China, fostering entrepreneurship and professional development of its members, and facilitating exchanges between Chinese and business communities in the United States through a variety of programs and activities. History and MissionHua Yuan was established in the Silicon Valley in 1999, originally known as the "E-Club" (the Entrepreneur Club). Within months of its inception, the E-Club saw the increase of its membership base to over 700 members, most of whom are Chinese engineers and entrepreneurs. Hua Yuan has been providing continuous services through its E-Club to the Chinese community in the Silicon Valley. By bringing together engineers, management personnel, professional service providers and private investors, Hua Yuan fosters the entrepreneurship and business development of our members. A number of companies have since emerged from the E-Club. In late 2000, Hua Yuan launched an effort to establish the Executive Club, which is composed of members who have successfully founded new companies or are holding senior managerial positions. The Executive Club is a networking place and forum for business executives and is becoming a united front to lead the Chinese business community. The activities of the Executive Club have been and will be designed to facilitate its members’ professional development and exchange, to explore business opportunities in the United States and China, and to further strengthen its relationship with the mainstream business community in the United States. While focusing on maximizing benefits to our members, Hua Yuan takes advantage of the strong support from the Chinese community and positions itself firmly as a bridge between the Chinese and US high-tech industries. Hua Yuan has established strong associations with the Chinese business community and has also built up a close working relationship with the Chinese regulatory authorities. All members of Hua Yuan exploring business opportunities in China are backed by our strong network in China. Such support includes administrative help from Hua Yuan's Chinese office located in the center of high-tech development in Beijing. Hua Yuan continues to engage in high level exchanges between business executives from the Silicon Valley and China. As cooperation is our philosophy, Hua Yuan is here to bring all business communities together, for the benefit of our members and the future of the Chinese Community as a whole. Seminar/Networking Events (Quarterly)To help venture community and entrepreneurs with 1) acquiring new knowledge and The invited guests are mainly VC chapter members, successful entrepreneurs and executives,
and/or other established business professionals such as investment bankers. At these events,
the invited speaker(s) normally gives about a one hour talk on topics that both venture
capitalists and entrepreneurs are interested in and the networking time is always allocated
before and after the talk. Event speakers are partners at professional service companies or VC firms. Together HYVC has explored topics like “Venture Capital in Beijing – A Silicon Valley Perspective” and“Considerations for Inversion Restructuring to Enhance Exit Opportunities.” A few of the distinguished speakers from past events included Don Lucas, Chairman of Board of Directors of Cadence Design Systems and Chairman of Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of Oracle. Executive Club (HYEC) EventsHYEC offers exclusive by-invitation-only seminar/networking events to its members. These events include Executive Monthly Gathering, Quarterly Executive Workshop Series, and Advisory Program that is tailored to each individual's need. Through these events, HYEC facilitates the generation of new ideas from entrepreneurs, helps entrepreneurs to realign their strategic direction, and offers the necessary resources and services that are needed in each phase of an entrepreneur's journey. HYEC also offers guidance in career advancement for middle level management in big corporations. These events can take the form of small classroom seminars, a roundtable discussion, or even a retreat, to ensure the close and comfortable interaction with all attendees. China Connection EventsWith its powerful entrepreneurial resources, and strong ties with China's government and high-tech business community, Hua Yuan strives to bring all business communities together for the benefit of its members, and for the future of the Chinese community as a whole. Hua Yuan hosts, sponsors, and co-hosts numerous China-related events to facilitate networking and information exchanges between China and U.S companies. These events can take the form of dinner meetings with top level executives from the government, technology development zone, and high-tech industries in China. They are usually open to the public. Annual ConferenceHosted every spring, Hua Yuan Annual Conference is the largest public annual event organized by Hua Yuan Science and Technology Association. At each Annual Conference, dozens of well-known CEOs from Fortune 500 companies, founders of many hot startup businesses, well-respected high-profile venture capitalists and professionals in corporate law and finance give keynote speeches and participate in lively panel discussions on various topics. Each year, this conference draws almost a thousand attendees in Silicon Valley and has become Hua Yuan's flagship event.
